The first time they were called (6pm on a Tuesday) they called me back and explained that they could not tow a car off of a mechanic's lot when they are closed for the day unless I had paperwork stating that all services were paid for (this makes complete sense to me, but our car had just been there for an estimate, and did not have any work done while it was there), so they came the next day instead. The tow truck was there within 15 minutes of me placing a phone call and the friendly driver never even had to get out of his truck! He simply backed over to the car, picked up the front end and drove away. We met him back at the house (he actually beat us there), where he neatly backed the car in to a parking space, released the front end and waved goodbye to us. Answer: Every manufacturer establishes towing guidelines, several companies compile these guidelines into an annual publication that is standard equipment for today's tow truck driver. 4.Question: Is towing rough on my car? Answer: No. Quite the opposite. Since your car is lifted by it's tires, it is riding on your own suspension. And the tow trucks suspension absorbs most of the bumps. 5.Question: Do tow truck drivers have special training? Answer: Yes. Our drivers begin by receiving a week of intensive specialized training at the WreckMaster training school, then they are teamed with an experienced driver on the job until able to perform every aspect of the job with competence. Finally they are tested and certified by the Towing and Recovery Association of America. Drivers must also attend annual training refresher courses to brush-up and learn new techniques. 6.Question: Do tow truck drivers need a special license? Answer: Yes. our company requires drivers to have a flawless driving record and attend annual defensive driving classes. 7.Question: Are tow trucks inspected for road worthiness? Answer: Yes.
